The present book is placed under the invocation of Prospero, the ruling magician of the Shakespearean tempest, emblem of Baroque opposition between theoretical and intellectual life and active life, and contemplates the world as a labyrinth, in which truth and Fiction are inextricably mixed. It explores the similarities and differences between the historical baroque and our period characterized as neo-baroque and postmodern and the centrality for this reflection of the Ibero-American, Baroque and neo-baroque as few are explored. The idea of society as a spectacle in which theatricality is definitive, as well as the authoritarian degeneration of politics and the situation of generalized crisis that follows an era of illusions and hopes are some of the similarities between the Baroque of the XVII century And the neo-baroque of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The present work starts from the supposition that in the small things the explanation of the set can be found and for that reason it analyzes a series of subjects that could seem dispersed but that, read in their whole, give an overall idea of the baroque as of ours time. In the wake of Benjamin and Ginzburg the indicative and micro-logic paradigm used here combines the political, ontological and aesthetic reflections as the most appropriate approach to approach complex historical realities such as those presented here. Rethinking the baroque today is imperative today, not only for its aesthetic beauty and its semiotic depth, but also as a guide for sailors in the stormy waters of political and social current affairs. The multiple and heterogeneous processes of subjectivation that constantly arise before our eyes can find their distant origin in the constitution of the baroque man who is the background of modern man, still premodern yet postmodern background for his bitter and bitter pessimism in the face of disillusionment and Disenchantment generated by the failure of two great historical movements that created hope and illusion: the Renaissance moment and the moment of bourgeois and proletarian revolutions.
