Arantxa Capdevila GómezTV has become the medium of communication that most influences the electoral campaigns. Through it, political parties develop persuasive strategies. This book takes as its object of study the explicit persuasive audiovisual communication and establishes a method for its analysis. In order to elaborate this method of analysis, one begins with the theory of the argumentation proposed by Chaïm Perelman, basic prop of the rhetorical studies in century XX. This theory brings undoubted advances in the study of persuasive communication, but its application to the analysis of television discourse has limitations. As presented here, limitations can be overcome if the Perelmanian theory is framed in the structure of the rhetorical parts (intellectio, inventio, dispositio, elocutio, memoria and actio) provided by classical rhetoric. Thus, we propose a structural analysis of the discourse that goes from the most superficial levels of the text to the deepest. As an example, this method is applied to the analysis of the electoral campaign of March of 2000.Arantxa Capdevila GómezTV has become the medium of communication that most influences the electoral campaigns.
